50 Famous Writers Who Were Repeatedly Rejected By Publishers

I have just come across an interesting article on the Writers Write blog which highlights 50 Iconic Writers who were repeatedly rejected by Publishers.

It can be so discouraging to submit your manuscript to a publisher then hear nothing from them for months before finally receiving a rejection letter. But, as the article explains, even some Writers who are now famous had a real battle trying to find a Publisher to take on their work.

Rejection can be painful; particularly if no reason is given. Your mind fills with self-doubt and you may feel like ripping the whole thing up… but you must try to maintain belief in yourself and your work. Occasionally, if a Publisher likes your manuscript but feels just a few things need changing (such as a minor improvement to the storyline), they may return your manuscript to you with helpful advice and ask you to resubmit when the changes have been made. Although this may seem like harsh criticism the fact that they have taken the trouble to offer advice means that they can see potential and may be willing to publish if you are willing to make the changes suggested.

If your manuscript is rejected outright by a Publisher then take courage from the list of Writers in the Writers Write blog article. Try to maintain belief in yourself and your work and steadfastly continue to approach other Publishers until your work is accepted.

Did Hatton Garden Raiders Start Heist A Week Before Detection?

I came across an interesting article in the Daily Mail which suggests the idea that the raiders involved in the Hatton Garden Heist may have started preparatory work a week before they were detected.

The article mentions that nearby residents experienced an unexplained power cut and also heard the sound of drilling long before the actual heist took place. There was also an underground fire nearby before the heist.

The newspaper article also suggests that their is growing evidence that the heist was an inside job as the released CCTV footage is of a side door to the building which is down an alley protected by a metal gate and neither this metal gate, nor the side entrance to the building show signs of forced entry thus suggesting the raiders had keys.

CCTV Footage of Hatton Garden Heist Released

Wow! A friend has just pointed out that The Mirror has published CCTV footage of the heist which occured a few doors away from me last weekend. The article is worth reading. You can view the article by CLICKING HERE.

The newspaper article includes a timeline of the events including images of the raiders (who have been nicknamed “Mr Ginger, Mr Strong, Mr Montana, The Gent, The Tall Man and The Old Man”) and their white van.

A further article in The Mirror yesterday which you can read by CLICKING HERE. It mentions that the theives arrived at the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Ltd building on Thursday April 2 at 20:19 before leaving the following morning at 08:12. They then returned over a day later on Saturday, April 4 at approx 22:17 before leaving the following morning at approximately 06:44.

Hatton Garden Heist Raiders took Gold and Jewellery away in Wheely Bins

Wow! I mentioned in my last blog post how there had been a raid on Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Ltd (which is a few doors away from my flat) last weekend:

I have just noticed that today’s edition of The Telegraph contains an article which says that the raiders used wheelie bins to transport their tools and equipment to the building, and later the stollen jewellery away from it. OMG! I must remember to check my Wheelie Bin next time I put it out for the Dustmen in case the raiders left a few gold bars and diamonds in it by mistake!

I also noticed another article in today’s edition of The Telegraph which suggests Scotland Yard could face legal action due to the Police failing to respond to the Security Alams that were set off during the heist.

It is interesting following the story as more facts are slowly made public.  Thankfully I did not, myself, have a Deposit Box with this company… but it is still worrying that such a seemily secure building could be broken into and the raiders allowed to continue the heist for such a long time (possibly several days) undisturbed after setting off the alarms and the Police being notified.

The estimated value of the jewels stolen now seems to have risen to “up to £200,000,000” even although Police are still trying to identify and contact the owners of the Deposit Boxes which had been opened.

Hatton Garden Jewellery Heist

There has been a lot of activity a few doors away from my flat this week. The raid on Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Ltd is being reported as the biggest heist in British history. The police are still trying to ascertain exactly what has been stolen but early estimates are that around thirty five million pounds worth of jewellery was stolen from up to 70 safe deposit boxes.

For more details on this heist see the reports in The Mirror and The Standard.

New Year, New Home, New Blog

I moved into my new flat in Holborn EC1 in the City Of London at the start of the year and am loving it!

I fell in love with this flat the moment I saw it.  I get a real buzz living in the capital.  There is so much energy around me that it is truly inspirational. I still have a lot of boxes to unpack and paperwork to sort out but “there is no place like home“.

I am still pondering about getting a landline installed. It seems a normal thing to do but I seem to be coping well with just my mobile so far so am wondering if I actually really need a landline.

Together with the New Year and my New Flat I have decided to start a blog.  It may take me a while to get to grips with the technical side of this but it looks like it is going to be fun!
